I am a postdoc researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. I have received my PhD in philosophy from Bielefeld University. My research focuses on topics in ethics, law, moral psychology, and meta-philosophy. I wrote my dissertation on the moral justification of state punishment and how empirical research figures into normative arguments in that debate. Beyond that, I am interested in the reliability of moral judgments, pluralism in normative ethics, and interdisciplinary methods in ethics and metaethics more broadly.
